About Marty

Following over two decades in the federal public service including four at the executive level, I ran for Councillor in Alta Vista in 2022 after discovering my passion for community issues following a four-year tenure as President of the Alta Vista Community Association. I also spent many years on school councils at Alta Vista Public School and Ridgemont High School and served on the Heron Gate Steering Committee. I led many projects in the community before being elected including the establishment of the Alta Vista Farmers’ Market and the replacement of the Alta Vista Public School kindergarten yard.

I live in the Alta Vista neighbourhood with my husband, Christian McPherson, and my children, Molly and Henry, who are in their early 20s. We also have three dogs. 

I am bilingual in French and English and hold a Master of Arts in Linguistics from Laval University.
